Oh how wrong you are Ms Jarrett! We do understand. We are not the sheep that followed your cry for change and hope. We are not the sheep that expects government to provide for our daily bread. We are those that have sworn to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. It is time for action against those who want to transform our Republic into a socialist state. We have to get these extremist out of office ASAP. Join your local Constitution supporters and vote this year in every election. Get to know the candidates and lets get some strong conservative business minds in every level of government. The time has come for action in the voting booth.

In case this is the only place that you get your Dakar news, and I let you down after stage 4 - - Robby Gordon finished in 8th place overall and 1st in the Open Category. The Volkswagen team took 1st thru 3rd, with Mark Miller (USA) driving the 3rd place VW.

RAIN in Las Vegas:
At one of the worst intersections for flooding, this is what 3/4 inch rain in 24 hours does to the Decatur and Oakley intersection. Thank goodness it is over 6 miles from our place. We have had no problems with leaks or flooding at our house. This is a first for awhile. Our last house was impossible to keep the seeping leaks out - manufactured housing just seems to be that way after about 10 years.

Things have kind of slowed down with the cold storms running thru. We should be done with the rain by Sunday - Go COLTS

Been staying off the wet streets - lots of accidents in town from speeding idiots. Don't need that right now.

Today Stage 4 of the Dakar Rally was won by Robby Gordon.

He won the stage by 1 second over S. Peterhansel in a works BMW. With the win, Robby moved up to 8th place in the overall standings while Peterhansel retains his overall lead in the Cars category. If you want to follow Robby's race, try going to Planet Robby a Robby Gordon fan site. Or you can follow him on Twitter or Facebook. Dakar is being raced in Argentina and Chile again this year. They are now in Chile and will be in the deserts of Chile for the next few stages. Then back to Buenos Aires, Argentina for the finish on January 17th.

Spitting rain all day, but most likely less than a tenth of an inch total on this, the East side of Las Vegas. Since the windshield is not in the bug, I had to put the car cover and tarp over it to keep the interior dry. It worked good the other day when we got a half inch of rain so I'm sure it worked today. I finally got our 2010 calendars completed and packaged for mailing. Hope they will go out early next week. Thankfully I had them to keep me busy with the cold and wet weather this past week. I have a Blackjack tourney tomorrow - a 1 in 150 chance at $2500 - so wish me luck. I had 3 tickets for a Chopper at a charity drawing today - and they never called. They must have given my motorcycle to someone else!!

1968 Street Bug Project - UPDATE #33

After the last few weeks trying to get rid of the Flu, I finally felt strong enough to get back to work on the Bug. It is now driveable, and I moved it back into the garage to install the windshield and rear window. The experience with the quarter windows had me worried about the install of both of the remaining windows. And my fears were warranted. The rear window rubber seal was really difficult to install on the glass, even using the new techniques that Joshua told me. When I did finally get it on the glass, it was a tough struggle getting it into the body. With Judy's help pushing on the outside, we were able to finally get the thing installed. It came out fine, and the headliner now looks better with the support of the rubber holding it tight. The windshield is next, but it is going to be tougher, due to the angle that Judy is going to have to work at to support the glass.

So the reps passed the big spend health care bill. I am very upset about this. Every representative that voted for this bill is at risk in their next election. I know that I am going to work hard to be sure that Dina Titus is defeated next November - Dina, we do not forget! If I could vote against Berkley I would also. This bill is going to cripple our country. I sure hope that those of you supporting this bill are ready to live in 1950's Russia!

Today I had a full day at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the SEMA show. For the very first time - ever - for me, I walked every isle of the entire convention. Hot items are lights and GPS/entertainment systems. With the choices of GPS here at the show, there is no way for you to get lost. I am over whelmed at the quantity of electronic equipment on display. Of course there is the fun stuff too! The Toyota "proving grounds" where you can drive 4x4's around a man made dirt track and get the feel for what a real off road vehicle can negotiate. Then there is the Ford Fiesta test drive - drive one of the 2010 Fiesta's and if you choose, take a ride in a 2008 Corvette Z51 with a Bob Bondurant Driving School Instructor. Here is the car and Instructor Alan Rudolph which just moments before gave me a thrilling ride around the course. I told Alan that I would be posting to my blog today and he cut loose with a tire screeching - tire smoking ride that I won't soon forget. Thanks Alan, It was the thrill of the day for me.

1968 Street Bug Project - UPDATE #32

Success with the brakes. New lines installed and we have a full brake pedal. I finally got to drive the car around the block. Seems to be OK, I have not checked the grease in the transaxle or the steering box, so I will not drive it to far for a few days. I still need to install the windshield and rear window plus all the interior goodies. But alas - I do not feel good today. All of the recent wind seems to have kicked up something and I have a very sore throat and sinus congestion. So, it is time for some computer work and room cleaning today.

Plus I need to make sure I am not sick when the SEMA show comes to town on the 3rd. That will be a busy week - I intend on spending a lot of time at the convention center - plus giving full reports and photos to all of my readers.
