Las Vegas - Bugarama

Today I went out to the Bugarama at the Las Vegas Speedway drag strip.

Our sons, Jason and Joshua were both in town this weekend and attended the swapmeet with me.  It was great having both of them here for a couple of days.  We had a great time and while somewhat disappointed in the small number of vendors - we did find a few of the items I had been putting off buying till the event.

We did not watch the drag races, but did meet the current PRA points leader in the Super Comp class.  His name is Allen Wiess, and he has a 1967 Bug with a 155 CI engine built by Geer Engineering.  He has won 2 of this years 3 PRA events.  I'll post an update on his race today in a future article.

It was 58 degrees this morning and we had sustained winds of 25 mph at in the parking lot.  The bleachers did block some of the cross winds for the drag racers, so they should have had a few good runs.  The cold air should have helped with some extra HP.

Wow Jerry I am really impressed. Have you had a chance to run it yet? When I worked at Ogner V W we use to start the engines on the floor then rev them and they would jump across the shop floor. I have quiet A bit of interesting news for you about some items I just acquired , When I get some pics of them I will contact you. Also I have a guy here with a 79 vette with a stroker engine in it . 700 HP with nitro . He wants me to put it on the web and sell it . I'll send you some pics of it when it is ready for show and maybe you could suggest some good site we can advertise it. This job is the one I have been looking for every one here including the owner thinks I'm batman because I can handle the small repairs around the park with out calling any subs in. ie. I ask him for a backhoe to do some landscaping and he delivered a $28,000 Brand new Kubota this morning. Having lots of fun here this one is going to last..Again nice job I'll will be in touch in a couple of weeks .. Gil
